Wait! Wasn't I just talking about SHEEP?
Well, Cowpens was (is) a place. Where a decisive battle of the American Revolution was fought. And the Highland regiment in His Majesty's service was the 71st Fraser Highlanders. THOSE Frasers, my Outlander loving buddies. As in descended from old Simon. Somehow I don't think Jamie's going to be in this one, though. The Highlanders lost big time (along with the rest of the British force) that day). Then again, he knew what the outcome was going to be at Culloden, but he still ended up there on the wrong side...!
I had noticed the sign for the Cowpens National Historical Site as I passed up and down Interstate 26 several times. After visiting the lovely wooly ones, it seemed the right time to investigate. Hard to imagine a battle here, lovely as it was on this beautiful SC spring day. But it truly was the harbinger to the British surrender at Yorktown.
